zadig is back on his own imprint with three nervous and raw tracks. he founds two of them in a * rush* folder, and after a few months playing those two tracks all around the world, he decided to release the package under the title of * lost tape* with an additional jam as a bonus beat. tape 1 is a banging and hypnotic long track, with a frenetic synth and explosives hats. tape 2 is more dirty, with distorted synth and crunchy beats. tape 3 is a bonus jam, made with machine drums only.

constantly turning around itself, the winding melody of vertere turns outward and inward at the same time, bringing the listener on a journey outward while mirroring a simultaneous labyrinthine journey inward. like the word itself, vertere, with its roots in the latin word verto (which itself takes its roots in the earlier sanskrit word, vartayati) it signifies the very nature of change itself. it means both to turn and reflect inward and yet also move forward � a call to action for setting in motion new things. a paradox at first glance but also perhaps a surprisingly accurate description of the destructive and reconstructive nature of creation. an apt metaphor for this bright new collaboration between established life and death artists mind against and the new artist project of federico maccherone, aka somne. on remix duties, when you have an artist of the caliber of tobias freund, you don t need to ask for anything more and with his outstanding remix of vertere he very clearly shows why. this long time mainstay of the electronic music scene has managed to stay not just relevant but on the cutting edge longer than most with respected releases on some of the most seminal imprints to be putting out music in the world of underground dance music. with vertere he takes what s already top quality material and somehow manages to turn it inward and in his own unique way elevate it to another level entirely. with a relentless beat and a sonic force that is hard to describe with mere words the tobias. remix of vertere comes out of the gate like a runaway machine rapturously drunk on its own self awareness. it marches ever forward, full of fervor, and will surely be driving dance floors both large and small to the euphoric edge of the ecstatic state.

f.s. blumm aka frank schültge from berlin has been making marvelous music for many years now. be it solo like on his latest album (pingipung in 2013) as part of the subtle folk-duo -bobby & blumm- or as a sound- scape researcher at the side of nils frahm. but even though f.s. blummbastic sees the light of day for the very first time in this release, the combina- tion of dub and blumm is not new: he is part of the quasi dub development (qdd). the collective around blumm and luca fadda from new york recently released the album -little-twister vs stiff-neck- with features by lee scratch perry or lady ann on pingipung in 2014. these -riddims and biscuits- came to live during the creation of material for future qdd-concerts. f.s. blummbastic played all instruments himself, rhythm guitar, organ and of course bass to send the results the the colleagues in new york. soon it was clear: these riddims have the most impact in their reduced form. theyd like to stand alone and get played back loudly. for the drums f.s. blummbastic brought helmut erler aka hey from hey-Ø-hansen into the qdd cosmos. not only did he bang the drums, but he has also mixed, mastered and cut the vinyl of this album.

organized aside from the science establishment in june 1993 at the californian resort pajaro dunes, in the monterrey bay, a conference that reunited a group of scientists and philosophers around a intelligent design1 took place. but we all know there are other theories about the origin of life on planet earth. the 5th release of the monkey bar comes from the result of the matured and well meditated work from pajaro dune. this complex house ep comes from the same creative minds behind the lontano project but with a distinct approach and sound. this ep is pure obscure deepness with a scent of house, to cap it all we brought the mighty zadig to deliver a techno cosmic wonderful remix. don�t expect a classic, zadig took the path of most resistance and produced an outstanding psychedelic masterpiece.

german native sis shot into the limelight in 2008 with releases on cecille and ricardo villalobos label * sei es drum*, which up until that point had only showcased ricardos own productions. no stranger to the crosstown rebels catalogue, he delivered the first ever rebellion release and then later the * round pen ep* on crosstown rebels in the summer of 2012 and the more recent * slider* on rebellion. other productions have appeared on esteemed labels such as cocoon, 8bit, connaisseur, get physical, with a more recent album on cocolino.

where to now? records are proud to present beatrice dillons follow up release to the widely well received * blues dances*. this three track 12 inch sees beatrice step things up a gear in terms of intricacy, experimenting wildly to add to her already astute palette of timbre and rhythm. face a leads the record with the unmistakable skronk of saxophone cutting and jamming over the skeletal pulse of beatrices signature dubbed out techno landscape. initially the inclusion of saxophone acts as an aural abstraction or diversion to extract a little freedom from the pumping cavern of dark dub techno atmosphere punctuated with the mechanical juddering saw-bass, but as the piece develops and we become deep into the groove the inclusion of wild sax snorts trips us up and become the focus itself as new levels of complex melodic and rhythmic detail become apparent within this otherwise structurally obedient space. taking its cues from rabih beaini, miles davis * big fun* era, dresvn and keith hudson, undoubtably face a is a compelling, complex trip� heads down but arms flailing. face b continues the theme but takes the listener far deeper into the cavern. here the concern is more the effects of space within song, a moment where beatrice allows herself to move away from the floor to find a little more room for playful experimentation. the saxophone is further treated with a plethora of effects to compliment the array of dub signals that scatter and skip around the basin. the record closes with sonnier (walk in the light) which strangely somehow manages to feel jazzier in its components, even in comparison to a pair of tracks riffing on a manipulated free-jazz sax part. it sounds strangely unsure of its world, adding to this whole loosely slung, loping feel which somehow fits amongst the stern, brooding, and efficient synth play. beatrice masterfully manages to create a piece here that grows in intensity without ever increasing in pace or texture, every drop is intended to stir the listener a little more than the last. theres a sense throughout all the pieces of having rhythm imposed or even inflicted upon the listener but this is certainly not a conflict of ideas� there is optimism, harmony and above all - wild groove nestled within beatrices world of mutant shuffle.

you could not miss the 4/4 kickdrum during the 90s in the rhein-main-area around frankfurt/germany. therefore phonk ds first attempts on house and techno were pretty successful during this period. but his feet being too big for just one dancefloor he developed a taste for funk, disco and hiphop, too. so all these influences kept on working together and - as a result - in 2014 he founded his own label footjob. three records have been released so far, all of them collaborations with friends, and now no.4 is ready to take off - being phonk ds first solo project: expect some heavy phonk to get your foot-job done!

first on side b we have another dancefloor monster. no more is is driven by a hypnotic synth and infused with enough drums to keep you on the move for the whole 7 minutes. le van a cantar keeps the catchy driving mood but this time iulian explores a more broken path. bubbly voices, snares and a haunted synth emerging now and then make this corner as interesting as the rest.

around 1980 menko konings (em.) started the dutch underground formation s.m. nurse, first together with jos jak and later also with anneke stempher. s.m. nurse experimented with collage-like music and were inspired by n.y.-ultra, disco e.g. the band mainly performed in the amsterdam ultra-circuit (oktopus, paradiso), clubs and discotheques. they were played regularly on the famous radio programmes radionome and spleen and performed live on radio in the villa of the vpro in hilversum. they also contributed to the theme cassette turkish delight of the label ding dong and there was a cassette release on the label top tape. at the end of 1983, s.m. nurse split up.<vr />limited edition of 500 copies.

kicking things off on the a side is herbie s jam , an effortlessly cool house edit of the legendary jazz pioneer that features an infectious piano loop, live drums and a funky bassline which we re sure is going to become a staple at day time parties and sunset sets this summer. there s also an incredibly smooth and soulful trumpet sample to complete the jam and tie everything together. on the flip you ll find a more up beat and peak time affair called oliver that keeps the same jam session vibe as on the a side, but this time employs sultry organ keys, breezy guitar licks, and a truly groovy saxophone contribution that makes you just want to get up and move. just as with their previous releases, this is a hand stamped, limited, 12- that won t be around for long.
